Borakalalo

After 2 nights at Nylsvley it was hitch up and go; next stop Borakalalo, a North West Provincial Game Park situated about 60 km from Brits. We had to get back to Johannesburg for some appointments and other business before finally heading out for the year and this was an ideal destination, off the beaten track but close to Johannesburg.

We managed to get a wonderful camp site, right next to the river.

Roger was however devastated that fishing was not allowed. The river is teaming with fish. They are currently spawning, resulting in sporadic violent splashing and churning of the water.

We thoroughly enjoyed this park and can recommend it. Our only advice is: unless your intention is to fish, rather stay at one of the other camps instead of at Pitjane, but remember to pre-book!

  1. Hello Roger & Letitia
So wonderful to read your blog and what a good job you are doing with it too – please keep it up 🙂 I’m sitting at work (10 am tea break) and am having these weird feelings of jealousy, longing to be in the bush, anxiety that I’ll not do what you are doing and elation for you guys at the same time. How absolutely wonderful that you are experiencing this great adventure with each other, with no interruptions other than those which you chose. Where are you off to now?
Here is a poem especially for you guys:
    A Special World (Sheelagh Lennon)
A special world for you and me
A special bond one cannot see
It wraps us up in its cocoon
And holds us fiercely in its womb.
Its fingers spread like fine spun gold
Gently nestling us to the fold
Like silken thread it holds us fast
Bonds like this are meant to last.
And though at times a thread may break
A new one forms in its wake
To bind us closer and keep us strong
In a special world, where we belong.

    Loads of love – Wendz
