4 April 2020 – Day 9

The rain continued throughout the night and there is no sign of letting up any time soon. It is gloomy and cold. At 8h45 Roger had not yet surfaced. Perhaps his idea is better than mine. I just cannot lie in for that long.

When he did surface he had to deal with a blocked drain pipe from the balcony of an upstairs unit which threatened to flood the unit. Fortunately our regular plumber, Peter, is registered as an essential service provider and was able to assist.

Today the country’s fatalities are officially at 7 with another 2 deaths that are not yet confirmed to be COVID-19 related. The most disturbing news item last night was that there had been in excess of 86 000 cases of domestic/gender-based violence reported to the police. How sad; and there are probably many more that have just not been reported. My guess is that much of it could be linked to not being allowed to buy alcohol or cigarettes.

After doing so well yesterday with uploading my backlog of diary entries, I hit a wall today. The photo gallery would just not process any new photos. I spent a good hour or two until I figured it out and sorted it out; there is a limit to the number of photos in the album and I have exceeded that limit. All is well again.
