Nzhelele Dam

We woke early after our night at the top of the mountain pass. After enjoying a cup of coffee and watching the sunrise we were ready to tackle the unknown road down into the valley.

The road was steep but in fairly good condition initially, however, it got progressively worse. Luckily with Ufudu’s low-range 4×4 engaged (and not to mention the driver’s skill of course…) we eventually made it through without any problems. The Soutpansberg scenery was stunning and very reminiscent of the Magaliesberg, except for the Baobabs.

Part of this trip is to stop and smell the roses, so for those who have never seen a Baobab flower:

We stopped at the dam at 12h30. It took us 5 hours to cover just 50Km!

We would spend the night here and leave early in the morning.
