30 April 2020 – Day 35

Today is the last day of the lockdown period, which started on 27 March, now known as Level 5. I was looking forward to some Level 5 measures being relaxed during Level 4. But alas, Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma announced that outdoor exercise, one of the things I was looking forward to, could only be undertaken between 6 am and 9 am. Really? And she also made an about turn on the sale of tobacco products. I won’t comment; I had a verbal rant shortly after the announcement. Now, I suppose, it is ‘accept and move on’. And not to mention an 8 pm to 5 am curfew!

Anyway, it is a beautiful, cloudless day, so I’m doing some much-needed clothes washing. It is still very nippy though.

Eugene was able to organise an aerial weed control spraying service for a client today. The client is very pleased with the result and obviously Eugene’s business was able to earn for the first time in weeks. I am very happy for him.

All in all, a very quiet, almost subdued, day.

103 Police officers have tested positive, of which 1 has died.

Our number of deaths now stand at 103, an increase of 10 since yesterday. Still well below the trend in the rest of the world.
