21 May 2020 – Day 56

During my virtual Pilates session this morning someone mentioned an issue with UIF pay-outs relating to the State of Disaster fund, leading me (and everyone else, I am sure) to believe that there is bias involved. But, as both Roger and I usually do, I checked the facts afterwards. Reality is that the system is fairly new, and rules of registration and submission have changed from long ago. There is absolutely no bias involved. When I asked Eugene, he confirmed that all his staff had been paid, without racial bias.

Roger finished the bird nesting boxes yesterday and mounted them today. I think they are so adorable.

Now we wait for occupation

We tuned in to a Zoom session where Deon Meyer was interviewed by Pippa Hudson from Cape Talk. Most interesting and insightful. He is so likeable and believable, and she is an excellent interviewer. His latest release, Prooi (The Last Hunt) is about State Capture. It will definitely be on my shopping list. I like to read his books in Afrikaans; it is just so descriptive, especially the dialogue when referring to the Western Cape people and places.

Winston Churchill
How appropriate right now? What a wise and insightful man!

I am more than tired and bored with news bulletins so have not even glanced at any news today.
