18 April 2021

It is 8:25 am. We’ve just finished our breakfast in Ufudu when Roger receives a group WhatsApp message:

‘Breakfast at Brits, departure at 8:30 am’.

Roger and I look at each other and unanimously shake our heads. We are still recovering from yesterday’s cold. He goes out to chat to the guys and to tell them we won’t be joining them. A few minutes later he’s back.

“Fancy going to Brits in a closed cockpit for a change? There’s space with Arjan” he says, hopefully.

And so, we change our minds and go to Brits as passengers in Arjan’s Navion. A pleasant change from the cold wind in our open cockpit Bathawk!

I have a coffee and Roger has a milkshake. The place is very busy, probably because the weather is so good today, so the folk having breakfast wait for more than an hour before receiving their food.

It is fun, and very social, as always. But I have to admit, I miss being in Buzz. It flies lower and slower, allowing enjoyment of the views, with ample photo opportunities. And, of course, timing is our own. We are back at Silver Creek at about lunchtime.

The weather is so pleasant that we go for another flight in the afternoon, as if we haven’t had enough flying for one weekend! With such clear skies and wonderful visibility, how can one resist?

I attended a sock knitting course on the 10th of April and proceeded to knit a pair of socks for little Louis. I was pleased with the result but had this niggle at the back of my mind that they would be too small.

We decide to pop in at Eugene and Marlene on our way back to Rosebank and present the socks.

Sadly, too small! I’ll just have to knit another pair…

André and Alesia invites us to stay for dinner, which we happily accept as it is getting rather late. We leave with an armful of meat Eugene and André give us from their last hunt: sosaties, wors, cocktail sausages, russians and dry wors.

We eventually arrive home at about 8:30 pm.

It’s been a busy, but good weekend.
